Meet Dr. Maggie Boomgaarden, ND
Bridging root-cause medicine with evidence-based holistic care to help you experience health that's not just the absence of disease, but the presence of vitality.
My "Why"
I became a naturopathic doctor to bridge the gap between root-cause medicine and evidence-based holistic care—so patients can experience health that's not just the absence of disease, but the presence of vitality. Having gone through severe life-altering health challenges myself, I know the depth of pain and uncertainty that can come with illness– and I have genuine empathy for the health struggles of others. I'm driven by the belief that people deserve medical care that is proactive, preventative, and personalized - empowering them to live long, fulfilling lives with strength, clarity, and purpose.
My Philosophy & Approach
My approach to patient care is rooted in integrative, preventative, and holistic medicine. I combine advanced diagnostics and in-depth comprehensive assessments with personalized, lifestyle-centered treatment plans that target the root causes of illness. I believe health is a dynamic state—achieved by optimizing physical, mental, and metabolic resilience, not just managing symptoms. I do not subscribe to the "pill for every ill" model, and I believe every patient is a unique sample size of one. My goal is to help patients thrive across every stage of life by supporting the body's innate ability to heal when given the right tools.
My Background
I earned my B.S. from the University of Wisconsin Madison and my Doctorate in Naturopathic Medicine from Bastyr University with a clinical focus on integrative and functional approaches to cardiometabolic health, hormone optimization, gastrointestinal health, and longevity. My training integrates traditional healing systems with advanced diagnostics and clinical science, allowing me to deliver personalized care that is both compassionate and data-driven. I've completed advanced training in cardiometabolic medicine, hormone management, lipidology, and functional lab interpretation, and pursued continuing education through the Institute for Functional Medicine (IFM), National Lipid Association, and the American Academy of Anti-Aging Medicine (A4M). My areas of clinical expertise include hormone-related conditions, metabolic health, gastrointestinal health, nutrition counseling, and sports performance optimization. As a lifelong athlete, former personal trainer and coach, I bring a deep understanding of human performance, recovery, and resilience to my medical practice.
In addition to clinical practice, I have extensive experience in teaching and research—developing and delivering educational content, contributing to academic presentations, and staying actively engaged with the evolving evidence base in integrative medicine. This broad foundation enables me to provide personalized, preventative, and optimization-focused care grounded in both science and clinical insight.
